Reducing energy consumption at Broadwalk House
Success Stories
British Land, Broadgate’s owner, has made commitments to decarbonise their building portfolio. As part of this the Broadgate Facilities Management team conducts net zero audits and collaborates with customers and partners to improve whole building energy efficiency across the campus.
Intervention
At Broadwalk House, the team collaborated with service partners to design, install, and commission new chillers, this was a solution derived from crucial insights to optimise building performance provided by our BMS partner.
The installation, which included deconstructing and rebuilding walls in the basement, saw the addition of new larger chillers featuring pioneering smart control valves. The valves, which were a first of their size in Europe, were piloted on this project allowing variable volumes for maximum energy reduction.
2023 vs 2019 impact
- 22% reduction in whole building energy use (electricity and gas)
- equivalent to 3m kWhe energy savings
- equivalent to 1,700 CO2e carbon savings
