Return to the office at Broadgate
As restrictions begin to ease over the summer and we all start to think about heading back to the office, we’ve created a helpful guide to safe travelling to and from work, distanced commutes, Covid-safe meeting rooms and work spaces at Storey as well as the latest news on shopping at 100 Liverpool Street, gyms and salons and more.
You can also dine and drink safely indoors from 17th May (and out) at London’s most welcoming neighbourhood. With our new foodie launch Eataly having opened its huge and exciting market, takeaway counters and restaurants alongside the acclaimed Yauatcha City’s sweeping terraces, Mrs Fogg’s gorgeous cocktail tables, Grind Liverpool Street and more at Broadgate Circle and Finsbury Avenue Square, you can meet up with old friends and work colleagues at last.
Even if you’re only popping into the office for a few days each week, you can say goodbye to hunching over a laptop and back-to-back Zoom calls at last. Read on to find out more about day-to-day planning and how we’re keeping you Covid-safe in 2021.
1. Embrace a new commute
Hopefully, the days of rush hours and packed commuter trains and buses are over. With the government investing £2.5 billion in cycling and walking, now’s the time to embrace a greener and calmer commute to work. Look up ideas for your commute at Transport for London (they’ve also got a new online cycle skills course) or plan your route using our guide.
2. Walk to work
We are London’s biggest pedestrianised neighbourhood with easy walking access from Old Street, London Bridge and East London. We’d recommend you download the Go Jauntly app for helpful London-based walks which will also let you look up the locations of Santander bike docks.
3. Hire a folding Brompton bike
Sun Street is home to a Brompton Bike hire locker so you can wheel around the city on a design classic. Simply go to bromptonbikehire.com to register and hire a folding bike from just £3.50 a day. It’s perfect for folding and storing under your desk or taking home plus you can return it to any public cycling dock making journeys simple.
4. Keep your bike safe
We’ve installed extra parking facilities around Exchange Square and in Sun Street so you can park your bike with ease. To ensure its security, read BikeRegister’s tips for looking after your bike (and definitely email [email protected] about getting it marked).
5. Get a decent coffee
Even if you’ve invested in the world’s best coffee machine, a home brew just never seems to match the real thing. Beany Green in Broadgate Circle are serving up their original flat whites made from beans supplied by their Aussie stablemates, The Roasting Party. Redemption Roasters, Grind, Pret and Yolk are also serving the best coffees and drinks to go.
6. Grab a proper lunch
Being back in the office means the return of incredible bowls of poké from Island Poké and the legendary field trays of Farmer J (a main, a grain, two sides and a sauce). You can also book to eat across Broadgate as all of our cafes and restaurants open their door for dining in and out.
7. Soak up some sunshine
Thanks to our pedestrianised location, we have plenty of outdoor and safely positioned tables in Broadgate Circle, Finsbury Avenue Square and our new launch, Eataly – the 42,000 sq ft Italian food haven features a market, open-air La Terrazza di Eataly, London’s biggest Italian wine cellar, a cookery school and more. And, if you don’t fancy heading back into the office, make the most of Broadgate’s super-fast Wi-Fi and enjoy working outdoors in the sunshine.
8. Enjoy after-work drinks again
Thanks to our welcoming and pedestrianised outdoor terraces, you can take your pick of delicious food, cocktails and craft beers. Mrs Fogg’s Dockside Drinkery & Distillery has also launched a new outdoor bar with an extended seating area so you can enjoy their signature G&Ts and infused cocktails and finally celebrate seeing your work teams again. The Botanist is also making the most of expanded space for dinner and drinks so kick back and relax post-work. After 17th May, indoor dining and drinking will also be open for the summer – make sure you book ahead as London comes back to life.
9. Keeping you safe
We’ve brought in a range of measures to ensure we remain a safe and welcoming place for everyone. With one-way systems in buildings, hand sanitising stations, plexiglass barriers and PPE for our teams and regular deep cleans, you can find out more information about what we’re doing here.
10. Head back to the gym and salon
1Rebel’s seriously effective workouts (from Rumble to Reshape) are open once again with careful measures to keep all visitors safe. Our salons including douce, DestinationSkin, Shiroma and The Body Balance Clinic are also open for Covid-safe appointments. Simply book ahead.
11. Book safe meeting and work spaces at Storey
Now open at 100 Liverpool Street comprising 48,000 sq ft set across the first and second floors of the building, Storey at 100 Liverpool Street offers customers’ private, branded office space, meeting rooms and breakout areas, which can be fully customised and managed on their behalf. 100 Liverpool Street will also house Storey Club, offering a mix of workspaces away from the office, including lounge areas, a cafe, meeting rooms and events space. Find out more on Storey.
12. Shop safely at 100 Liverpool Street
For socially distanced, stress-free and safe shopping, 100 Liverpool Street is open again including Neom, Space NK, L’Occitane and Kiehl’s for the best in beauty; Reiss, Tommy Hilfiger, Gant and more for fashion; tech from Tech Express; Monica Vinader and Watches of Switzerland (complete with VIP room) for accessories and lifestyle shops including Waterstones. With knowledgeable teams and plenty of space, this is shopping in real life made easy.
