The heated outdoor seating at Bar Douro City is like stepping off the plane – covered in traditional azulejos tiles, hand painted at Cerâmica de Bicesse and inspired by 15th century motifs from the Museu Nacional do Azulejo, you could be kicking back in Lisbon enjoying Portuguese petiscos and wines sourced with care and love. Book a spot for a long lunch or head over for after-work drinks and enjoy wines by the glass and a menu that moves from sardines to Onglet steak with a slow-cooked egg, matchstick potatoes on a bed of esparregado (creamed spinach).

With a menu that’s full to the brim of natural wines, prosecco and craft bottles of beer and pale ale (complemented with plates of “picky things” – cheese, charcuterie, olive and nuts), this is a gem of a destination.

Conjuring up the Amalfi Coast in the heart of London, La Terrazza di Eataly is serving up seasonal and classic cocktails, wine, beer or Aperol Spritz from the Aperol Spritzeria plus cocktails alla grande which can be enjoyed between four to six people. With food from the Eataly markets also on hand (such as pan pizza, fresh pasta and fresh mozzarella and Italian cheeses made on site in the cheese laboratory), you cannot find a more summery spot. Cin cin!
What visitors say: “The other Italian supermarket/restaurant/cafe combo in London just got some serious competition. Eataly is in a league of its own.”
