Celebrating the Broadgate Community Fund
Success Stories
The Broadgate Community Fund (BGCF) is built on collaboration between Broadgate businesses, created to scale our social impact by acknowledging that we can accomplish more together. The BGCF offers Broadgate businesses a forum to connect with like-minded companies from across the campus and our local partners and charities to make a real and long-lasting social impact.
From 2023 – 2024, the BGCF have donated over £93,000 to local organisations making a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable groups within the Westminster community. This is as a result of the generous contributions of our Broadgate campus customers and partners of including, Western Asset Management, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, Herbert Smith Freehills, Peel Hunt, Sir Robert McAlpine, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Coyle.
By collaborating these organisations have been able to financially contribute to local charities addressing a wide range of diverse issues such as the mental and physical wellbeing of children, education, social mobility, social inclusion, improving employment rates and so much more. Together we decide which local organisations to support both financially and with employee volunteering.
Below are some key highlights:
1. MyBigCareer
My Big Career works with schools in the UK’s most disadvantaged communities supporting each young person’s individual needs.
Thanks to the funds awarded from the BGCF, MyBigCareer launched its programme in five additional schools, supporting a total of 18 schools local to Broadgate. They continued to provide education, guidance, and employability support to over 1,200 students facing economic and social disadvantage. Click here to learn about MyBigCareer.
2. Clapton Commons Community Organisation (CCCO)
A charity in Clapton, London, dedicated to supporting local residents, especially those facing isolation or the cost-of-living crisis. CCCO offers services and programmes that promote community cohesion, mental health, and social connection.
The BGCF donation ensured the continued delivery of their ‘Warm Welcome’ hub in Hackney, which hosts weekly community meals, recreational activities and exercise classes as well as direct support and interventions to address housing, benefits and other key services. Click here to learn about CCCO.
3. Stitches in Time
A community arts and education charity based in Tower Hamlets. They focus on using creativity, particularly textiles and crafts, to bring people together, build skills, and foster social inclusion.
With the BGCF donation, they were able to expand their ‘Sewing for Work Skills’ programme, integrating employability skills training with existing textile and English-learning projects in Tower Hamlets. Over 12 months, the programme directly supported 154 marginalised women, helping them gain transferable skills and improve employability through personalised support, volunteer placements, and confidence-building activities.
