HOW BROADGATE SUPPORTS LANDAID

How Broadgate Supports LandAid

Built around its public squares, Broadgate is the largest pedestrianised neighbourhood in central London and comes alive with a year-round programme of over 100 events.

It’s why we’re in a unique position to make a real difference, calling upon the 36,000 talented and engaged people who work at Broadgate to help raise funds and awareness for a range of causes including our main charity partner, LandAid.

How we support LandAid at Broadgate

Created by the property industry, LandAid’s main aim is to end youth homelessness – each year they donate £1 million to youth homelessness projects. But it’s not just about writing a cheque and walking away. LandAid works with smaller charities and projects to provide strategic advice and property expertise that’ll make a lasting change for all vulnerable young people across the UK with a focus on providing safe, secure and affordable accommodation.

The London TowerAthlon LandAid fundraiser
For the past four years, Broadgate has hosted the London TowerAthlon LandAid fundraiser in autumn.

An endurance event with a difference, the TowerAthlon asks competitors to race up the 977 stairs of Broadgate Tower, take a vertigo-inducing abseil off the roof before enduring a fast and furious cycle sprint on the Plaza below. In 2016, £40,112 was donated to the City YMCA London to help create new accommodation for 195 young people a year in London.

LandAid Day
For one day every October, 60 companies from the UK property industry raise funds for LandAid.

Last year, Broadgate raised £8,172 thanks to Broadgate Estates’ surveyors taking a sponsored 24-mile cycle ride across London, a pop-up five-a-side football tournament in Shoreditch, and a Broadgate-wide raffle for occupiers, services partners and colleagues.

Individual support
Members of the Broadgate team also undertake their own ongoing LandAid fundraising. from running 10k races to regular five-a-side football tournaments.
